    report manager url login prompt

    Teo,

    I configure the reporting service using reporting service config manager, test report manager locally http://abc:80/reports, then http://abc/reports launch without any problem. However, when I launch the report manager url from other desktop, then I got login prompt, server and desktop at the same domain, and I am the administrator on both machines, the thing is that I don't know how to trouble shoot this error since IIS no longer needed, but I do have IIS enable (Win2008 machine).

    I try both http://abc/reports and http://abc:80/reports both of them prompt login prompt, and even I provide my login, the url is still not showing.

    Chapter 2 of the book provides some guidelines of how to troubleshoot Windows authentication issues. There was a thread on the katmai RS list about it. See my reply there about disabling RSWindowsNegotiate.

    Re: report manager url login prompt

    Hi Teo,

    Follow your post, I did check the setting at IE, also check the rereportserver config file, I have only this:

    <Authentication>
      <AuthenticationTypes>
       <RSWindowsNTLM/>
      </AuthenticationTypes>
      <EnableAuthPersistence>true</EnableAuthPersistence>
     </Authentication>

    So both of them are configured correctly, but login prompt still showing.

    There could be 1,001 reasons for this happen and more than likely whatever is preventing the authentication handshake to happen has nothing to do with SSRS. If you a deploy a simple web page to IIS and request that page do you get prompted?
