    Help with Report Builder models

Does anyone know if there is a way to force a Report Builder model to refresh or update it's meta data rules etc.

We have a model with 4 sub models, built using 4 SQL views. When you first generate the model through VS.NET 2005 the meta data generates and then we deploy to the report server. If one of the views returns no data in can cause problems when trying to build a report with custom filters.

An example would be customer orders. Say you have a model using a sql view which joins a Customer table and a User table. If the view has now customer orders in then you would not be able to create a report with a Customer filter in.

As time goes by, orders are created but the filter never seems populate with Customers. I'm assuming this is a meta-data issue?

I can regenerate a model from scratch then redeploy (and create a report with a Customer filter which does populate) but this solution has issues too as any reports created from the original model will no longer work with the new one, due to the way the report stores references to the GUIDs of the model fields.

    Any help much appreciated,

    Thanks Big Smile
